Resolution to Approve a Four Month Extension of the Contract with Washtenaw County for Police Dispatch Services ($260,620.64)
Memorandum
This resolution approves a four-month extension of the existing contract for services with Washtenaw County for the provision of City-wide dispatch services for law enforcement personnel.
The current contract expires on February 28, 2022. This four-month extension is requested so that Washtenaw County and the City may continue to negotiate a longer-term contract for police dispatch services.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: The extension of this contract shall be at the current rate of $65,155.16 per month ($260,620.64 total for four months) currently being paid for police dispatch services. This has been budgeted in the FY22 Police Department General Fund budget.

Whereas, The City currently utilizes the police dispatch services of Washtenaw County for their dispatching needs;
Whereas, The City recommends an extension of the existing contract so that further contract negotiations may occur without the contract expiring; and
Whereas, The funding for the contract extension is in the FY22 Police Department General Fund budget;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve a contract with Washtenaw County for an extension of the contract for police dispatch services for the City of Ann Arbor;
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute the contract for services after approval as to substance by the City Administrator and approval as to form by the City Attorney; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take all necessary actions to implement this resolution.
