Resolution to Close Streets for the Time to Teal 5K and Fun Run to Benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) on Sunday, May 12, 2024

Attached for your consideration is a request the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) to close the following streets on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 5:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. for the Time to Teal 5K:
• Main Street from Stadium to W. Madison
• W. Madison from Main to S. First Street
• S. First Street from W. Madison to W. Washington
• W. Washington from S. First Street to Main
• Main from W. Washington to W. William
• W. William from Main to S. Ashley
• S. Ashley from W. William
• W. William to W. Washington
The actual races will start at 7:30 A.M. and end by 9:30 A.M. with all streets to be reopened as soon as safely possible after the last runners and participants have cleared the affected areas.
Applicants and City staff met to discuss this event and Staff was supportive of moving this application forward.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website and GovDelivery, the applicant will notify churches and neighborhood associations no later than one week prior to the event.

Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets;
Whereas, The Sponsor has agreed to pay the cost of City services associated with the staging of this event; and
Whereas, All streets will be reopened as soon as safely possible after the last runners and participants have cleared the affected areas;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of the following streets on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 5:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. for the Time to Teal 5K and Fun Run to Benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance event:
• Main Street from Stadium to W. Madison
• W. Madison from Main to S. First Street
• S. First Street from W. Madison to W. Washington
• W. Washington from S. First Street to Main
• Main from W. Washington to W. William
• W. William from Main to S. Ashley
• S. Ashley from W. William
