Resolution to Approve Purchase of Licensing and Professional Services with EMC Corporation ($28,000.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes a purchase order for purchase of licensing and professional services from EMC Corporation for FY20.
Information Technology is seeking to improve the protection of our backup environment by replicating an additional copy of our backup data to a hosted location.
Licensing for Data Domain Cloud DR Essentials will be purchased, along with implementation services.
This licensing and services will be procured under the MiDEAL Extended Purchasing Program, a program allowing use of state contracts to buy goods and services for Michigan Cities and other nonprofit entities.
Attached for your review is the quote for $28,000.00. A contingency of 10% ($2,800.00 for a total of $30,800.00) is being requested to cover any potential changes to licenses or services.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: The cost of $30,800.00 with contingency is budgeted and will be paid for from the approved FY20 Information Technology Services Unit Budget.

Whereas, The attached quote was procured through the MiDEAL cooperative purchasing arrangement in accordance with City Code section 1:316(2) as a cost effective purchase;
Whereas, The attached quote for licensing and professional services with EMC Corporation will allow the City to improve the protection of the City’s data backup environment;
Whereas, Funding for this expenditure is planned for and budgeted for in the FY2020 Information Technology Budget;
Whereas, EMC Corporation complies with the City’s non-discrimination and living wage ordinances; and
Whereas, The Information Technology Services Unit recommends this purchase of licenses and professional services to provide additional protection to City technology data;
RESOLVED, That City Council determine that the MiDEAL cooperative purchase is cost-effective and in the City’s best interest;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve a purchase order with EMC Corporation for licensing and professional services as described in the attached quote in an amount of $28,000 to be funded from the FY20 Information Technology Service Unit budget;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approve a ten percent (10%) contingency for additional licensing and professional services from EMC Corporation to protect the City’s backup environment, to be expendable from the FY20 Information Technology Service Unit budget, subject to City Administrator approval; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take all necessary actions to implement this Resolution, including execution of any changes or amendments that do not exceed the amounts authorized herein.
