Resolution to Approve Street Closure of Detroit Street between Catherine and Fifth Streets on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM for KindleFest 2025
Memorandum
The attached resolution is requesting approval to close Detroit Street between Catherine and Fifth Streets on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM for KindleFest 2025.
This event will also be utilizing the Farmers Market. The closed street will be used to allow more room for participants to explore the entire area. The sponsor, the Kerrytown District Association, will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas, pursuant to the MLCC regulations.
Notification of the street closure will be through the City’s website, GovDelivery and the Kerrytown District Association’s resources.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Whereas, The City has received a request from the Kerrytown District Association for KindleFest 2025;
Whereas, It will be necessary to close the following street to accommodate the large number of participants:
• Detroit Street between Catherine and Fifth;
Whereas, The sponsor requires the approval of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for a special outdoor liquor license;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be through the City’s website, GovDelivery and the Kerrytown District Association’s resources;
RESOLVED, That City Council approves the closing of Detroit Street between Catherine and Fifth Streets on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM for KindleFest 2025.
