Resolution to Approve the Closing of Streets for the 2026 Glacier Highlands Neighborhood Association Annual Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 25, 2026

Memorandum

Attached for your consideration is a request from the Glacier Highlands Neighborhood Association to close certain streets for the annual Memorial Day Parade which honors the Michigan service men and women who have given their lives for our country.  The following streets are requested for closure from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 25, 2026:

 

                     Frederick Drive from Greenbrier Boulevard to Middleton

                     Middleton to Bardstown Trail

                     Bardstown Trail to Barrister Road ending before Larchmont

                     Larchmont between MacGregor Lane and North Folkstone Court

 

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

 

Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, electronic notification via GovDelivery and through the Neighborhood Association.

 

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City received a request from the Glacier Highlands Neighborhood Association to close certain streets for the annual Memorial Day Parade from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 25, 2026;

 

Whereas, The following streets are requested for closure:

 

                     Frederick Drive from Greenbrier Boulevard to Middleton

                     Middleton to Bardstown Trail

                     Bardstown Trail to Barrister Road ending before Larchmont

                     Larchmont between MacGregor Lane and North Folkstone Court

 

Whereas, The street closures will be properly signed, barricaded and supervised by the sponsor;

 

Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and

 

Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, electronic notification via GovDelivery and through the Neighborhood Association;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of the following streets for the Glacier Highlands Neighborhood Association Annual Memorial Day Parade from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 25, 2026:

 

                     Frederick Drive from Greenbrier Boulevard to Middleton

                     Middleton to Bardstown Trail

                     Bardstown Trail to Barrister Road ending before Larchmont

                     Larchmont between MacGregor Lane and North Folkstone Court
