Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing Main Street from William to Huron and Liberty Street from Main to State on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM. The actual event occurs from Noon until 9:00 PM with the remaining time to be used for set-up and breakdown of the event. The intersections of these streets will remain open for traffic.
The Jim Toy Community Center is the sponsor for Ann Arbor Pride 2024. Ann Arbor Pride celebrates lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, and queer identities, community, and allyship. This event will bring entertainment, community, vendor, fun and most importantly, pride.
The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas pursuant to the M.L.C.C. regulations. The sponsor also agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
This event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and general public.

Whereas, The City has received a request from the Jim Toy Community Center to close Main Street from William to Huron and Liberty Street from Main to State on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM for Ann Arbor Pride 2024;
Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised by the sponsor;
Whereas, The sponsor requires the approval of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for a special outdoor liquor license; and
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of Main Street from William to Huron and Liberty Street from Main to State on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM for the Ann Arbor Pride 2024; and
RESOLVED, That a special liquor license for the event be approved, contingent upon approval from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
