Resolution Recognizing Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.
Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit agency that is dedicated to inspiring and equipping mission driven people, organizations, and communities to realize their visions of a just and thriving society.
Passage of the attached resolution will allow Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc to hold a trivia night with a raffle on April 23, 2026, at Coner Brewery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);
Whereas, Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
Whereas, Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for their dedication to inspiring and equipping mission driven people, organizations, and communities to realize their visions of a just and thriving society;
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby approve recognition of the Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc as a local civic nonprofit organization operating in the Ann Arbor community for the purposes of its charitable gaming license application as required by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended; and
RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be directed to provide a certified copy of this Resolution to Non-Profit Enterprise at Work, Inc and to take all necessary administrative actions to provide notice of this Resolution to the Charitable Gaming Division, Michigan Department of Treasury.
