Resolution to Appoint Jordan Roberts as the City of Ann Arbor Public Services Area Administrator
Memorandum
The attached resolution provides for the appointment of Jordan Roberts as the City of Ann Arbor Public Services Area Administrator, effective January 22, 2025.
The City completed a nation-wide recruitment process which resulted in the selection of Mr. Roberts. Pursuant to Section 12:1(b) of the Ann Arbor City Charter and Section 1:101 of the City’s Municipal Code, the City’s Public Services Area Administrator shall be appointed by the City Administrator with the advice and consent of the City Council.
Mr. Roberts was most recently the process improvement manager with the City of Dearborn, Michigan, Department of Public Works. He previously held positions of Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Supervisor with the City of Dearborn Neighborhood Services Division, and, prior to that, served as a Budget Analyst with the State of Maryland Department of Budget and Management, Office of Capital Budgeting. Mr. Roberts earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Maryland.
Given his superior qualifications and background, Milton Dohoney Jr., as the City Administrator, recommends Jordan Roberts be appointed as the Public Services Area Administrator.

Whereas, Mr. Roberts is qualified to serve as Public Services Area Administrator because of his experience, education, and credentials;
Whereas, Section 12:1(b) of the Ann Arbor City Charter provides that the Public Services Area Administrator shall be appointed by the City Council on recommendation of the City Administrator;
Whereas, The Code of the City of Ann Arbor, Section 1:101 - Service Area Administrator - provides that appointment of the service area administrators by the City Administrator shall be with the advice and consent of the City Council; and
Whereas, The City Administrator recommends to City Council that Jordan Roberts be appointed as the Public Services Area Administrator;
RESOLVED, That City Council does hereby appoint Jordan Roberts, as the City of Ann Arbor Public Services Area Administrator, effective January 22, 2025
RESOLVED, That Jordan Roberts serve as Public Services Area Administrator until the City Council makes some alternative appointment for such position or until his separation from employment;
RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be hereby directed to mail Jordan Roberts a certificate of such appointment in accordance with Section 12.5 of the Charter; and
RESOLVED, That prior to entering upon the duties of the Public Services Area Administrator, Jordan Roberts shall take the oath required under Section 12.7 of the Charter and file the same with the City Clerk.
