Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk - Sunday, March 8, 2025
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on March 8, 2025.
The event will run from 9:45 AM to 11:30 AM and will require closing of the following streets from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on March 8, 2025:
• Main from Stadium to Jefferson
• Madison from Division to Main
• Jefferson from Main to First
• First from Jefferson to Liberty
• Liberty from First to Ashley
• Ashley from Liberty to William
Streets will be reopened as soon as safely possible, but no later than 11:30 AM. A speaker system will be used to start the race at 9:45 AM. The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, flyers and social media.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City has received a request from Running Fit to close the following streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 8, 2025 from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon;
Closing of the following streets from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on March 8, 2025:
• Main from Stadium to Jefferson
• Madison from Division to Main
• Jefferson from Main to First
• First from Jefferson to Liberty
• Liberty from First to Ashley
• Ashley from Liberty to William
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses;
Whereas, The sponsor requires the approval of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for a special outdoor liquor license; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s and the organizer’s websites, and through social media;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve closing of the following street closings for the Shamrocks & Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 8, 2025 from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon:
• Main from Stadium to Jefferson
• Madison from Division to Main
• Jefferson from Main to First
• First from Jefferson to Liberty
• Liberty from First to Ashley
• Ashley from Liberty to William
