Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Folds of Honor Firecracker 5K - Friday, July 4, 2025

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Folds of Honor Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2025 from 3:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. The following streets will be closed:
• State from Monroe to E. Madison
• E. Madison from State to Thompson
• Thompson from E. Madison to William
• Monroe from State to E. University
• E. University from Monroe to North University
• North University from E. University to State
• State from William to Liberty
• Liberty from State to S. Main
• William from Main to State
• Main from William to Liberty
The sponsor, Epic Races, agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Organizers are asked to provide assistance to parkers needing access to the Maynard Street Parking Structure.
This event is held concurrently with the Ann Arbor Jaycees 4th of July Parade. Notifications to impacted residents and businesses will be similar to the Parade which will include the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, the Sponsor, Epic Races, is requesting approval for the closing of the following streets from 3:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
• State from Monroe to E. Madison

• E. University from Monroe to North University

• State from William to Liberty
• Liberty from State to S. Main
• William from Main to State

Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the following street closings from 3:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 4, 2025:
• State from Monroe to E. Madison
• E. Madison from State to Thompson
• Thompson from E. Madison to William
• Monroe from State to E. University
• E. University from Monroe to North University
• North University from E. University to State
• State from William to Liberty
