Resolution to Approve Street Closures for the University of Michigan Football National Championship Parade on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the University of Michigan Football National Championship Parade on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The Football Team secured the Championship on Monday, January 8, 2024 and is requesting these closures to honor and celebrate the Team. The Parade will begin at 4:00 PM and will be followed by a celebration in Crisler Arena at 7:00 PM. Police vehicles will be at the following points for the closures:
• Monroe from Oakland to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to South State
• South State from South University to Granger
The Parade will end at Schembechler Hall and the streets will open as soon as safely possible.

Whereas, The University of Michigan has requested street closures on January 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM to honor the University of Michigan Football Team with a National Championship Parade;
Whereas, The event has been coordinated with all relevant City services areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public;
Whereas, It is necessary to close the following streets from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024:
• Monroe from Oakland to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to South State
• South State from South University to Granger; and
Whereas, The street closures will be supervised by Ann Arbor Police;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve closing of the following streets on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM for the University of Michigan Football National Championship Parade:
• Monroe from Oakland to Tappan
• Tappan from Monroe to South University
• South University from Tappan to South State
• South State from South University to Granger
