Resolution for Community Events Fund Disbursements from the FY 2025 Budget

Body
Whereas, The Ann Arbor City Council wishes to support activities that promote or bring the community together in its richness;
Whereas, The Ann Arbor Community Events Committee met and reviewed funding requests from community groups;
Whereas, The Community Events Fund Committee reviewed applications for criteria that the funds typically pay for including city fees related to police services, electricity turn on/off fees, trash receptacles, permit fees, or city facility rental. In other instances, the funds may provide for supplies for children’s free activities or workshops, environmentally friendly, sustainability focused, and Zero Waste operations and activities. These funds do not cover costs associated with advertising, wages, insurance premiums, printing, mailing costs, entertainment, or private events;
Whereas, The FY25 Community Event Fund budget is $94,000.00; and
Whereas, The Committee recommends the following allocations:
1) Ann Arbor Jaycees - $1,500.00 to cover city costs for the Summer Carnival on June 20-24, 2024;
2) Ann Arbor Jaycees - $2,000.00 to cover city costs for the Fourth of July Parade on July 4, 2024;
3) Main Street Area Association., $1,000.00 to cover costs for the Rolling Sculpture Car Show on July 12, 2024;
4) Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Inc. - $1,000.00 for Dart for Art on July 16, 2024;
5) The Guild of Artists and Artisans - $1,000.00 to cover costs for Paint the Town Red on July 16, 2024;
6) State Street Association - $10,000.00 to cover city costs for the 2024 Ann Arbor State Street Art Fair on July 18-20, 2024;
7) The Guild of Artists and Artisans - $13,000.00 to cover city costs for the 2024 Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair on July 18-20, 2024;
8) Ann Arbor Art Fair, Inc. - $5,000.00 to cover city costs for the 2024 Ann Arbor Art Fair on July 18-20, 2024;
9) Jim Toy Community Center - $2,250.00 to cover city costs for Ann Arbor Pride on August 3, 2024;
10) Leslie Science & Nature Center and Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum - $1,000.00 to cover city costs for the Fireside Fun event beginning in September 2024;
11) State Street Association - $1,000.00 for Fall Game Day Street Closures on September 7, September 21, and October 6, 2024;
12) Leslie Science & Nature Center and Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum - $1,000.00 to cover city costs for the Monarch Migration Festival on September 8, 2024;
13) Main Street Association - $1,000.00. To cover city costs for Midnight Madness on December 6, 2024;
14) Leslie Science & Nature Center and Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum
- $4,000.00 to cover city costs for Ann Arbor Earth Day Celebration on April 1, 2025;
15) Standing Tough Against Rape Society (formerly Michigan Takes Back the Night) - $2,000.00 to cover city costs for the 2025 Standing Tough Against Rape event on April 2, 2025;
16) FestiFools Studio/Lloyd Scholars for Writing -U-M - $4,000.00 to cover city costs for FoolMoon and FestiFools April 4-6, 2025;
17) Michigan Cultural Events Committee $2,500.00 to cover city costs for the African American Downtown Festival on June 7, 2025;
18) Main Street Area Association - $1,000.00 to cover city costs for the Taste of Ann Arbor Event on June 1, 2025;
19) Ann Arbor Summer Festival - $35,000.00 to cover city costs for the Top of the Park Event and Summer Festival beginning on June 14, 2025;
20) NAACP Ann Arbor Branch #3160 - $2,250.00 to cover city costs for Juneteenth on June 15, 2025;
21) Main Street Area Association - $2,500.00 to cover city costs for the Ann Arbor Streets event beginning in June 2025;
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor City Council approve the allocations from the FY 2025 Community Events Fund.
