Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the Burns Park Run - Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 5:30 AM until 11:00 AM

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the annual Burns Park Run on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
The following streets are requested to be closed from 5:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.:
• Baldwin Avenue from Wells Street to Cambridge Road
• Cambridge Road from Baldwin Avenue to Martin Place
• Martin Place from Cambridge Road to Wells Street
• Wells Street from Martin Place to Lincoln Avenue
• Lincoln Avenue from Wells Street to Cambridge Road
• Cambridge Road from Lincoln Avenue to S. Forest Avenue
• S. Forest Avenue from Cambridge Road to Granger Avenue
• Granger Avenue from S. Forest Avenue to Baldwin Avenue
• Baldwin Avenue from Granger Avenue to Brooklyn Avenue
• Brooklyn Avenue from Baldwin Avenue to Lincoln Avenue
• Lincoln Avenue from Brooklyn Avenue to Shadford Road
• Shadford Road from Lincoln Avenue to Woodside Road
• Woodside Road from Shadford Road to Scottwood Avenue
• Scottwood Avenue from Woodside Road to Norway Road
• Norway Road from Scottwood Avenue to Ferdon Road
• Ferdon Road from Norway Road to Wells Street
• Wells Street from Ferdon Road to Baldwin Avenue
The event start time is 8:00 A.M. and ends at 11:00 A.M., with additional time to be used for set-up and clean-up. Streets will re-open as soon as safely possible after the participants have cleared the areas. The organizers sought out City advice given this event happens on the same weekend as University of Michigan Commencement. Ann Arbor Police have confirmed that this will not present a hardship or conflict for staff.
An amplified PA system will be utilized during the event adjacent to the Burns Park Shelter Building. Announcements will be made and music will be played beginning at 7:30 A.M. until approximately 10:30 A.M.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Burns Park Run website, and the Neighborhood Association.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
