Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Folds of Honor Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2026 from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. The following streets will be closed:
• S. State from S. University to E. Liberty
• S. University from S. State to Church
• E. University from Hill to S. University
• E. Liberty from S. State to S. Main
• S. Fifth from E. Liberty to E. Washington
• E. Washington from S. Division to S. Main
• S. Main from E. Washington to E. William
• E. William from S. Main to S. State
• E. Jefferson from S. Fifth to Thompson
• Hamilton Place from E. Jefferson to E. William
• E. William from Hamilton Place to S. Division
• S. Division from E. Jefferson to E. Liberty
• E. Jefferson from S. Division to Thompson
• Thompson from E. Jefferson to E. Liberty
The sponsor, Epic Races, agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Organizers are asked to provide assistance to parkers needing access to the Maynard Street Parking Structure.
This event is held concurrently with the Ann Arbor Jaycees 4th of July Parade. Notifications to impacted residents and businesses will be similar to the Parade which will include the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, the Sponsor, Epic Races, is requesting approval for the closing of the following streets from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.

Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery, the Ann Arbor Jaycees communication distributions, social media and the Epic Races website;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the following street closings from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2026:
