Title

Notice of Upcoming Expiration Dates for the Terms of Office for Members of the Greenbelt Advisory Commission, Environmental Commission, and Independent Community Police Oversight Commission during 2020

Memorandum

In accordance with the ordinances referenced below, the City Clerk is informing the City Council of the upcoming expiration dates of the terms of office for members of the Greenbelt Advisory Commission, Environmental Commission, and Independent Community Police Oversight Commission. The appointment process for these commissions differs from the majority of commissions, as appointment to these commissions does not require a mayoral nomination.

Greenbelt Advisory Commission

Ann Arbor City Code of Ordinances, Title III, Chapter 42, Section 3:64 (3) states:

“The City Clerk shall notify City Council at least 45 days prior to the expiration date of the term of office of any person serving on GAC. The City Council shall place on the table the name of all reappointments no later than 60 days after the expiration date of the term of office.”

Two terms of the members nominated and approved by the City Council expire May 31, 2020:

Commissioner Stefanie Stauffer, appointed as a member of the public-at-large

Commissioner Stephanie Buttrey, appointed as a member of the public-at-large

Independent Community Police Oversight Commission

The City Code does not compel a notification of the upcoming expiration of terms of members of the Independent Community Police Oversight Commission. However, for the sake consistency, the names of members with terms expiring in 2020 are included in this memorandum.

Four terms of members appointed by one or more of the City Council liaisons to the Human Rights Commission or liaisons to the Commission with the approval of the City Council expire May 31, 2020:

                     Commissioner Lisa Jackson

Commissioner Zaynab Elkolaly, appointed as the youth member
