Attached for your review and approval, please find a resolution to approve the prohibition of on-street parking on the South Side of Brockman Boulevard from Brock Court to Ferdon Road.
The Brockman & Crestland Sidewalk Project proposes filling the gaps in the sidewalk system on Brockman Boulevard from Packard to Ferdon in 2026. Following several public engagement meetings, staff developed a design that narrows Brockman from 31 feet to 22 feet in width in order to create some additional space for the new sidewalk. The proposed design will reduce the proximity of the proposed sidewalk to adjacent residences and will also have the extra effect of slowing traffic by narrowing the roadway.
In order to accommodate this, on-street parking will need to be eliminated on the south side of Brockman Boulevard. The proposed pavement layout on Brockman Boulevard will provide enough width for two way/yield traffic while allowing parking on the north side only.
Chapter 126 of City Code requires City Council approval for the permanent restriction of parking for more than one block.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Other than the minor cost of installing the No Parking signs, the removal of parking will have no substantial budgetary impacts.

Whereas, The City’s sidewalk gap prioritization system categorizes the sidewalk gaps along Brockman Boulevard between Packard to Ferdon Road in the “High” category;
Whereas, the narrowing of Brockman Boulevard will create additional space for the construction of the new sidewalk and have the added benefit of slowing traffic;
Whereas, The narrowing of Brockman Boulevard to 22 feet to create space for the proposed sidewalk requires the elimination of parking along the south side of the roadway;
Whereas, The Transportation Commission recommends that the City Council approve the prohibition of on-street parking on the south side of Brockman Boulevard from Brock Court to Ferdon Road; and
Whereas, Chapter 126 of City Code requires Council approval for the permanent or temporary restriction of parking for more than one block;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the City Administrator’s issuance of a traffic control order prohibiting parking along the south side of Brockman Boulevard from Brock Court to Ferdon Road and ordering installation of appropriate signage for “No Parking Tow Away Zone”; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take the necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
