Resolution to Approve Street Closure of North University and East Washington Streets between Thayer and Fletcher for the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement’s Festifall Event on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 7:00 AM until 11:30 PM
Memorandum
The attached resolution is requesting approval to close East Jefferson Street between Thompson and Maynard, and Maynard Street between East Jefferson and before East William Street for the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement’s Festifall Event on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 7:00 AM until 11:30 PM. The actual event will take place between 2:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The remaining time will be used for presentations, set-up and breakdown. The entire community is invited to participate. As such, the event site and common spaces will be accessible to normal, public pedestrian and emergency traffic.
Notification of the street closure will be through the City’s website and GovDelivery, press releases and resources through the University of Michigan no later than one week prior to the event.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Whereas, It is necessary to close East Jefferson Street between Thompson and Maynard, and Maynard Street between East Jefferson and before East William Street on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 7:00 AM until 11:30 PM;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be through the City’s website as well as press releases and resources through the University of Michigan;
RESOLVED, That City Council approves the closing of East Jefferson Street between Thompson and Maynard, and Maynard Street between East Jefferson and before East William Street on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 7:00 AM until 11:30 PM for the Festifall event.
