Resolution to Close Streets for the Ann Arbor Mile-Dart for Art on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair to close the following streets on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. This closure is requested for the Ann Arbor Mile-Dart for Art Event:
• North University from State Street to Church
• Church from North University to Willard
• Willard from Church to East University
o The route then continues across University property from Willard back to North University
The Ann Arbor Mile is an event for area residents to join in the kick off of Art Fair week in Ann Arbor and support the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. This event partners with The Guild and State Street District Paint the Town Event. The goal of this event is:
• To continue with a competitive one mile race in Ann Arbor
• To encourage the community to get out and run or walk a mile
• To bring the Ann Arbor community together
Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website and the Sponsor’s notification to electronic and print media no later than 14 days prior to the event.

Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets;
Whereas, The Sponsor has agreed to pay the cost of City services associated with the staging of this event;
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and the Sponsor’s notification to electronic and print media no later than 14 days prior to the event; and
Whereas, All streets will be reopened as soon as safely possible after the last runners and participants have cleared the affected areas;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of the following streets on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, for the running of the Ann Arbor Mile-Dart for Art:
• North University from State Street to Church
• Church from North University to Willard
• Willard from Church to East University
o The route then continues across University property from Willard back to North University
