Title

Resolution to Authorize the Purchase of a Portable Diesel Generator from Cummins Sale and Service Inc. for Use by the Water Resource Recovery Facility (Sourcewell - $84,083.00)

Memorandum

Your approval is requested to authorize the purchase of one portable generator from Cummings Sales and Service inc. (Cummins) through the Sourcewell government cooperative purchasing program (010925-VRM) for use by the Water Resource Recovery Facility(WRRF).

The WRRF currently has 2 portable generators that are used to provide back-up power at lift stations when normal power sources are unavailable. This helps to prevent sewer back-ups and sanitary sewer overflows in the collection system. Of the two generators currently at the WRRF, one is at the end of its useful life and the other is only configured to provide 240-volt power. Through upgrades and the addition of 1, potentially 2 new lift stations, some will utilize 480-volt systems which are not compatible with the 240-volt generator.  The new generator would have the capability to be used at all lift stations and provide the necessary back up power to prevent collection system issues.

Cummins Sales and Service of New Hudson, MI was awarded contract Sourcewell Contract No. 092222-CMM by Sourcewell government cooperative purchasing program for public services.

Cummins Sale and Service complies with the requirements of the City’s conflict of interest and non-discrimination ordinances.

Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funds for this purchase are included in the approved FY26 WRRF Operations and Maintenance Budget of the Sewage Disposal System Fund.
