Resolution to Approve an Additional Street Closure for University of Michigan’s Football Games in 2026
Memorandum
This request is for approval of a hard closure of East Hoover between Division and Greene for the University of Michigan 2026 Football Season. This closure will become a part of requests going forward as a result of the opening of the new dormitory, Wolverine Village, located at 910 South Division. This additional closure would replicate the previously approved football closures at Enactment R-26-122 and would be effective three hours before the games to the end of these events. The events for the 2026 season are on the following dates:

• 9/12/26
• 9/19/26
• 9/26/26
• 10/17/26
• 10/24/26
• 11/7/26
• 11/21/26
The applicant, the University of Michigan, in close collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ann Arbor Police and other local law enforcements officials, continues to enhance security at Michigan Stadium and for the residents who live in nearby neighborhoods by creating a vehicle-free zone around the Michigan Stadium during Saturday UM Football games and other major events.

Whereas, The University of Michigan is opening a new dormitory, Wolverine Village at 910 South Division creating a need for a hard closure of East Hoover between Division and Greene, thus expanding the previously approved University of Michigan Football Games footprint;
Whereas, The University of Michigan, Federal Bureau of Investigation, City of Ann Arbor Police and other local law enforcement officials are cooperating in a joint effort to enhance security at Michigan Stadium and for the residents who live in nearby neighborhoods by creating a vehicle-free zone around the Stadium during football games and other major events;
Whereas, This closure would be effective three hours before the games to the end of these events; and
Whereas, The additional hard closure would occur on the following dates:
