Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a Stump Cutter from Vermeer Corporation (Sourcewell - $51,182.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one new Vermeer SC802 Stump Cutter at a total cost of $51,182.00 for use by the Public Services Area, Public Works Unit.
Vermeer Corporation was awarded contract #062117-VRM for Grounds Maintenance Equipment through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program, of which the City is a member.
This stump cutter will replace an existing 1996 Vermeer stump cutter (#6935) that has 1,128 hours of use and whose repair cost has exceeded 357% of its purchase price. This equipment is used by the Forestry Unit to remove stumps after a tree has been removed.
Adequate funding for the purchase of this equipment has been budgeted in the Fleet Services Fund FY 2019 Operations and Maintenance budget.
Vermeer of Michigan complies with the requirements of the City’s conflict of interest and non-discrimination ordinances.

Whereas, The Fleet & Facilities Unit needs to purchase a replacement stump cutter for the City’s fleet;
Whereas, Vermeer of Michigan Inc., Fowlerville, MI, was awarded the contract for Grounds Maintenance Equipment through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program;
Whereas, Vermeer of Michigan Inc. complies with the requirements of the City’s Conflict of Interest and Non-Discrimination Ordinances; and
Whereas, Adequate funds for the purchase of this equipment are available in the Fleet Services Fund FY 2019 Operations and Maintenance budget;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approves the issuance of a purchase order to Vermeer of Michigan Inc. for one Vermeer SC802 stump cutter at a total cost of $51,182.00;
RESOLVED, That funds for the purchase of this equipment comes from the Fleet Services Fund FY 2019 Operations and Maintenance budget with funds to be available without regard to fiscal year;
RESOLVED, That the equipment being replaced (no. 6935) be sold at the next City auction held after the equipment is removed from service; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take the necessary actions to implement this resolution.
