Memorandum

The attached resolution is requesting approval to close Washington between Fletcher and Thayer Streets for the Forever Go Blue Bash from 6:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.  The event will start at Noon and end at 3:00 P.M. with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event. The street will open as soon as safely possible after the event.

The following street is requested for closure:

                     Washington between Fletcher and Thayer

The sponsor, the University of Michigan-Alumni Association, is presenting a day of festivities future alumni which will feature a number of activities including lawn and table games, artists, a photo booth and food trucks.

Forever Go Blue Bash (FGBB) is one of the Alumni Association’s signature student events, established in 2023 to mark the graduation milestone and welcome new alumni into the global U-M alumni family. Building on its success, FGBB will expand its impact: for the first time this year, the event is open to all U-M students, not just graduating seniors, fostering inclusion and deeper campus engagement.

Notification of the street closure will be through the City’s website and GovDelivery, press releases and resources through the University of Michigan at least one week prior to the event.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
