Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the 2016 Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade - Monday, July 4, 2016

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the 2016 Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade subsequent to the Firecracker 5K. The following streets will be closed from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. for staging and cleanup of the parade:
S. State Street from S. University to E. Washington
E. Liberty from S. State to S. Main
S. Main from Liberty to William
E. William from S. Main to S. State
S. Fourth Ave. from E. Washington to Packard
S. Fifth Ave. from E. Washington E. William
S. Division from E. Washington to E. Jefferson
Thompson from E. Liberty to E. William
Maynard from E. Liberty to E. Jefferson
E. Jefferson from Thompson to Maynard
N. University from S. State Street to Thayer Street
S. Main from Washington to Liberty
W. Liberty from Main to the alley between Ashley and Main
Thompson between William and Jefferson
The streets will open as soon as safely possible after the parade passes through.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and through the Ann Arbor Jaycees communications distributions.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City has received a request from the Ann Arbor Jaycees to hold a parade in the City of Ann Arbor on Independence Day, Monday, July 4, 2016;
Whereas, It will be necessary to close the following streets from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. for staging and cleanup of the parade: Maynard from E. Liberty to E. Jefferson;
Whereas, The following streets along the parade route will be closed only as needed beginning at 10:00 A.M. and until no later than 12:00 Noon to accommodate the parade itself:

E. Liberty from S. State to S. Main
S. Main from Liberty to William
E. William from S. Main to S. State
S. Fourth Ave. from E. Washington to Packard
S. Fifth Ave. from E. Washington E. William
