How Established
Please see the LDFA Website for more information.
The LDFA was approved by a City Council resolution approved June 27, 2002, in conjunction with the City of Ypsilanti.
Purpose
A financing mechanism that allows the 'capture' of the incremental taxes for reinvestment within the boundaries of the authority. The funds will be used to support business services provided by the Ann Arbor IT Zone to emerging businesses, and to assist in providing high-speed data communications to the SmartZone area and businesses in that area. City Council affirmed the continuing public purpose of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti SmartZone LDFA and its role in facilitation of the commercialization of research products being developed at University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, and the development and support of new and existing technology-led economic development by Resolution R-14-175 on June 2, 2014.
