Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Bituminous Paving Material, ITB - #4180 Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. ($150,000.00 Annually)

Attached for your review and approval is a resolution for the purchase of bituminous paving material from Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. Bituminous paving material is used by City forces in normal maintenance tasks associated with street repairs. A number of different types of bituminous materials were specified, all conforming with the latest Standard Specifications of the City and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The Public Services Area solicited bids, ITB-#4180 for bituminous paving materials for a contract period of August 19, 2011 through June 30, 2014, subject to annual appropriation of funds. The contract includes an option for two additional one-year periods for the same terms and conditions if agreed upon by both parties. Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. was the only respondent.
Sufficient funds for this purchase are budgeted within the Public Services, Field Operations Major and Local Street funds for fiscal year 2012. Future contract years are subject to City Council annual budget appropriation. We anticipate an annual expenditure of up to $150,000.00 for each fiscal year.
Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. received Human Rights approval on July 27, 2011.
