Resolution to Approve Changes to Bylaws of the Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board for Purposes of Applying for State Funding
Memorandum
The Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board is preparing to submit its annual request to the State for approximately $450,000 in funding for community corrections activities in Washtenaw County. As part of this application, the Advisory Board must submit a copy of its current bylaws. As the Advisory Board recently moved its operations from the trial court to the county sheriff’s office, the Advisory Board must amend its bylaws to reflect this change. Per Council resolution, the staff and Chair of the Advisory Board staff worked with the City Attorney’s Office and the Corporation Counsel for Washtenaw County to revise and clarify other provisions of the bylaws. The funding application is due by the end of May and these amended bylaws must be approved by the City, the County, and the Board before the application is submitted.

Whereas, The Washtenaw County/City of Ann Arbor Community Corrections Advisory Board desires to amend its bylaws to reflect its transfer of operations from the trial court to the Sheriff’s Office and to conform the bylaws to its current structure and practices;
Whereas, These amendments must be approved by the City, the County, and the board and submitted as part of the annual application for approximately $450,000.00 in state funding for community corrections programs in Washtenaw County by the end of May;
Whereas, The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and the Community Corrections Advisory Board anticipate considering these bylaws for approval in mid-May;
