Resolution to Approve Contract Amendment Extension with Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment for Climate Action Planning Grant ($50,000.00)
Memorandum
This resolution approves an extension to the City’s Climate Action Planning Grant agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (MDNRE). The grant has three primary tasks:

1. Develop an updated Climate Action Plan for the City of Ann Arbor
2. Run a residential climate competition (the recently completed February 2011 Energy Challenge Month)
3. Study carbon neutrality in municipal operations with the University of Michigan Center for Sustainable Systems

The extension changes the grant end date from September 30, 2011 to June 30, 2012. This allows staff to complete the Climate Neutral City Facilities study (Task 3) according to the timeline that was originally proposed to MDNRE, and also allows the Climate Action Plan (Task 1) work plan to include the hiring of a new consultant for the project, as the original project partner for that task, Energy Works Michigan, has left the project. MDNRE is amenable to this change.

Funds for the project will continue to be available from Fund 00MG without regard to fiscal year, and grant administration services will continue to be provided by the Energy Office.
