Resolution to Approve Changes to Commission on Disability Issues Bylaws
Memorandum
Human Resources Services recommends approval of the attached Resolution to Approve the Proposed Amended Bylaws of the Commission on Disability Issues.  The proposed amended bylaws change the term of officers from one to two years and the existing provisions have been updated for clarity, consistency, and uniformity with the assistance of the City Attorney, as directed by City Council resolution.

Whereas, The Commission on Disability Issues desires to amend its bylaws to extend the terms of its officers from one year to two years and make other clarifications;
 
Whereas, City Council has passed a resolution directing the City Attorney to review the bylaws of City boards and commissions and revise them for consistency and uniformity to the extent practicable while meeting the requirements of individual boards and commissions;
 
Whereas, The City Attorney has reviewed the proposed amended bylaws in accordance with City Council's resolution;
 
Whereas, The Commission on Disability Issues approved the proposed amended bylaws at their December 15, 2010 meeting; and
 
Whereas, City Council has passed a resolution requiring all proposed amendments to bylaws of City boards and commissions to be approved by City Council;
 
RESOLVED, That City Council approves the attached bylaws for the Commission on Disability Issues.
