Resolution to Approve Street Closing for South Utopia - Saturday, March 12, 2011
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain City streets for the South Utopia special event on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 8:00 AM to Midnight.
The event is being sponsored by the South University Area Association and will include a music festival and fun for all ages from Noon to 10:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Participating merchants will make donations from their proceeds on the day of the event to benefit Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan. Dance Marathon is one of the largest student-run non-profit organizations in the state whose goal is to raise funds and awareness for children in need of pediatric rehabilitation
The sponsor is requesting that the following streets be closed from 8:00 AM to Midnight on Saturday, March 12, 2011:
• South University from East University to Forest
• Church from Willard to the UM parking structure to the north of South University
The sponsors agree to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
