Resolution to Approve Street Closing for EcoCAR Media Ride & Drive - Monday, March 14, 2011

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of a portion of Traverwood between Huron Parkway and Plymouth Road on Monday, March 14, 2011 for the EcoCAR Media Ride & Drive.
The event is being sponsored by General Motors, the US Department of Energy, Argonne National Lab and the US Environmental Protection Agency to provide an opportunity for the media and public officials to tour the EPA labs, interview EcoCAR teams and participate in ride and drive-alongs in various concept cars.
The sponsors are requesting that a 0.9 mile section of Traverwood from the Ann Arbor District Library driveway to the EPA driveway on Traverwood be closed from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to provide a closed course for the safe operation of the concept cars. The Library drive will remain open to the public and public access will be available to all businesses on Traverwood.
The sponsors agree to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
