Resolution Authorizing Sanitary Sewer and Water Improvement Charges for 1718 Newport Creek ($11,908.00)
Memorandum
Your approval is requested to levy sanitary sewer and water improvement charges plus the City’s $30 levy fee totaling $11,908.00 on the property known as 1718 Newport Creek. This previously-vacant parcel was developed in 2010. The property has paid the applicable connection charges and is “active” for sanitary sewer and water service as of September 2, 2010.
According to current procedures, the property owner needs to now pay the property’s share of the existing utilities through the City improvement charge levy as required under section 1:278, Chapter 12, of the Ann Arbor Code. The $11,878.00 Utilities Improvement Charge plus the $30 City levy fee (to cover costs to record the resolution with the Washtenaw County Register of Deeds) is to be levied and then made payable in 10 annual installments at 5.373% interest per annum on the unpaid balance.
It is therefore recommended that Council levy these improvement charges according to the terms described above.
