Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of Ordinance No. ORD-10-35 which repeals and replaces Chapter 93, Alarms, of Title VII of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor in its Entirety and adds a New Chapter 93, Alarms, of Title VII of said Code.

The new ordinance is based on a registration system with appropriate controls to facilitate false alarm reduction and education of alarm users. It contains enforcement control and administration provisions, identifies the responsibilities of an alarm company, and penalty provisions for misuse of alarm systems by alarm users.

The City Charter contains provisions to allow summary publications of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length. The purpose of this resolution is to lessen the City’s cost resulting from the required publication of the revisions to the City Code.

RESOLVED, That Ordinance No. ORD-10-35 be published by the following summary:
Ordinance No. ORD-10-35 repeals the existing Chapter 93, Alarms Systems, and adds a new Chapter 93, Alarms Systems, to the Code of the City of Ann Arbor. The new Chapter 93 governs alarm systems intended to summon fire and law enforcement response and requires registration, establishes enforcement control and administration provisions, identifies the responsibilities of an alarm company, provides for penalties for misuse of alarm systems by alarm users and sets conditions for suspension or l...
