Attached for your review and approval are the minutes and resolution regarding the Insurance Board meeting which was held on August 26, 2010 for the purpose of discussing pending claims against the City, conducting other business and making other recommendations to City Council.

CITY OF ANN ARBOR BOARD OF INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION
AUGUST 26, 2010


PRESENT: Matthew Horning, Treasurer
Tony Derezinski, Councilmember
Sarah Singleton, Management Assistant/Risk Specialist
Abigail Elias, Chief Assistant City Attorney
Robert West, Senior Assistant City Attorney
Craig Hupy, Field Operations Managers
Jack Tallerico, Arthur J. Gallagher
Tom Crawford, Chief Financial Officer

ABSENT: Stephen Rapundalo, Councilmember

The Insurance Board meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm by Matt Horning.

Approval of Agenda

Sarah Singleton distributed an updated agenda showing additional claim for the Board’s recommendation.

Tony Derezinski moved to approve the agenda as amended, Matt Horning seconded. The motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS

There was a possibility of two claimants appealing their denied claims but they did not confirm and did not appear. They may appeal at a later date.

NEW BUSINESS

Attorney Bob West discussed a personal injury case involving Brad and Paula Handley vs. the City of Ann Arbor.

Mr. Derezinski moved to recommend to council that a settlement be offered in the case of Handley vs City of Ann Arbor. Mr. Horning seconded. The motion passed.
