Resolution to Approve Contract with On Duty Gear, LLC for the Purchase of Police Protective Equipment (Bullet Resistant Vests) ($40,000.00)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution requesting approval of a contract with On Duty Gear, LLC for the purchase of police protective equipment; specifically, bullet resistant vests. The industry standard for warranting the effectiveness of bullet resistant vests to National Institute of Justice (NIJ) performance standards is currently five (5) years from date of manufacture. Eighty (80) of the vests currently issued are nearing the end of this warranty period and are due for routine replacement.

Three bids were received with On Duty Gear, LLC as the low competitive bidder to replace the eighty (80) vests with NIJ standards compliant vests.

On Duty Gear, LLC has City of Ann Arbor Human Rights Approval effective August 30, 2010.

The total price for eighty (80) replacement vests is $40,000.00. Funding for this purchase is allocated to three funds. 50% allocated to fund 0073-Local Forfeiture; 25% allocated to fund 0028-Federal Equitable Forfeiture; 25% allocated to fund 0010-Police approved FY11 General Fund Budget.
