Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks authorization to execute a purchase order to Sehi Computer Products, Inc. for the replacement of 10 Panasonic ruggedized notebooks for the Fire Department. The Information Technology Services Unit is replacing the existing ruggedized notebooks that are off of manufacturer warranty, below minimum performance standards for current application loads, and are no longer capable of keeping up with the Fire Department’s mobile technology needs.

The Fire Department operates several critical pieces of software on their ruggedized notebooks including Computer Aided Dispatch, mobile reporting and on-scene equipment and personnel management. The effective use of this software is critical to the ongoing effective and efficient operation of the fire department.

In December of 2005, the Fire Department purchased their existing fleet of ruggedized notebooks. Since then, the Information Technology Service Unit has been providing ongoing support and maintenance, including annually reserving for the replacement of the fleet.

Sehi Computer products was the lowest bidder:



This expenditure is budgeted and planned for in the FY2010 Information Technology Service Unit Budget. Sehi Computer Products, Inc. received Human Rights and Living Wage Compliance, effective September 23, 2009.

We recommend that the attached resolution for the amount of $64,000.00, including a 7% contingency be approved.
