Resolution to Approve Street Closing for The Event on Main Special Event - Thursday, June 17, 2010
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of S. Main Street between William Street and Liberty Street from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 to stage The Event on Main special event.

This new event is a multi-year endeavor sponsored by the University of Michigan Health System’s Office of Medical Development with a goal to raise $1,000,000 over three years to support the construction of the new University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s and Women’s Hospital at the University of Michigan Health System. The new Hospital will provide highly specialized care to more women and children and will enhance groundbreaking research. It is planned to be held annually beginning in June, 2010 and culminate in the national grand opening gala in 2012.

The 2010 event, beginning at 6:00 P.M. and ending by 10:00 P.M., will host a unique progressive dinner for 400 at Gratzi, Palio, Real Seafood, La Dolce Vita and The Chop House. Ticketed guests will then enjoy a concert by top entertainers on the “Main Stage” located in the Palio lot at the corner of Main and William Streets. The event will also include a family-friendly band performing for the public on S. Main Street near Liberty.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City’s website.
