Washtenaw County, Michigan Single Audit for the Year Ended December 31, 2009
Memorandum
Washtenaw County has received the results of their single audit. This includes federal grants from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded to the Office of Community Development.
There was a federal award finding and questioned cost for the Community Development Block grant. The finding type was a significant deficiency in internal controls over employee time reporting. The cause was the County timesheet and the employee allocation timesheet are reviewed by separate individuals and not compared for agreement. The recommendation is for the two timesheets that the Community Development employees complete are reviewed and compared for agreement by the same individual. The view of responsible officials is that the County will implement this recommendation.
