Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to award a contract to Site Development, Inc. in the amount of $720,387.20 for the Vaughn St./ Nob Hill/ Copley Ave./ Harbal/Leaird Dr./ Yost Alley Water Main And First Street Sanitary Replacement Project.

The construction contract titled “Vaughn St. / Nob Hill/ Copley Ave. / Harbal & Leaird Dr. / Yost Alley Water Main and First Street Sanitary Replacement Project” includes the installation of new 8” and 12” water mains at several different locations in the City. The locations are combined in one construction contract for efficiency and cost savings.

The Vaughn Street water main includes the installation of approximately 690 feet of new 8” ductile iron water main to replace the existing 4” water main that serves the houses on Vaughn Street. The fire hydrants on Vaughn Street have inadequate flows. This work will provide a more reliable water service for the neighborhood, and conform to City of Ann Arbor water main and fire protection standards by upsizing the pipe. Vaughn Street is scheduled to be resurfaced by the city resurfacing project this year, following the water main work, which will also replace adjacent sidewalk ramps to comply with ADA requirements.

The Nob Hill water main includes the installation of approximately 2,663 feet of new 8” and 12” ductile iron water main to replace the existing 6” mains that serve the apartment houses on Nob Hill, and the houses on South First Street and West Davis Ave. Nob Hill and South First Street have a history of water main breaks that have disrupted service.
