Resolution to Accept, Approve and Appropriate the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to the Ann Arbor Fire Department ($72,519.00) and Establish a Major Grant Fund Account for the Project (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
This resolution authorizes acceptance of a grant award in the amount of $72,519 from the Department of Homeland Security under the auspice of the Assistance to Firefighters grant program (AFGP). This grant program is a competitive peer review program and Ann Arbor Fire Department has received an award notification of funding of its submitted grant proposal for equipment replacement.

The Fire Department submitted a proposed project to completely replace all of the department’s fire attack hose nozzles with a uniform make and model. Additionally, the project entails a larger firefighting foam stockpile and more modern foam application equipment to be placed on all frontline fire apparatus.

Approval of this resolution will allow the department to accept the grant, establish a grant management account, appropriate matching funds from the Fire Department 2010 expenditure funds and provide for the management of the grant without regard to fiscal year.

Matching Funding of $18,129.00 is available within the Fire Department approved budget for the fiscal year 2010.
