Title
Resolution to Approve Agreement for the Provision of Law Enforcement Services to the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority by the City of Ann Arbor ($135,000.00 2-year Contract)
Memorandum
The agreement between the Ann Arbor Police Department and the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (hereafter “AATA”) to provide law enforcement services to the AATA expired on October 31, 2009. The AATA and Ann Arbor Police staff continued to work together on negotiation of a new agreement while law enforcement services were provided to AATA. The negotiated agreement covers the continuation of services from November 1, 2009 through October 31, 2011. The agreement has been reviewed and accepted by the AATA.

The Agreement provides for payment of $65,000 for the services of one officer for the first year of the contract. The compensation payment will increase to $70,000 for the final year of the contract. The Agreement continues the Ann Arbor Police Department’s practice of dedicating police officers to providing police services at the Blake Transit Center. This arrangement has proven beneficial for both the City and the AATA for several years.

The City Attorney’s office has reviewed and approved the attached agreement.

I request that Council approve the Agreement.
