Resolution Recognizing the Hearing Loss Association of Ann Arbor (HLA3) as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Hearing Loss Association of Ann Arbor is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is a self help and educational group for the hard of hearing and deaf in the community.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Hearing Loss Association of Ann Arbor to hold a poker tournament at the Roundtree Bar & Grill, located at 2203 Ellsworth Road in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, The Hearing Loss Association of Ann Arbor has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and

Whereas, Hearing Loss Association of Ann Arbor is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for its efforts to provide self help and educational for the hard of hearing and deaf in the community;
