Resolution Authorizing Summary Publication of Ordinance No. ORD-10-04 Amending Section 1:572(b) of Chapter 18 of the Ann Arbor City Code Increasing IAFF Employee Contributions to the Employees Retirement System
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of Ordinance No. ORD-10-04 which amends Section 1:572(b) of Chapter 18, Title I of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor. The amendment to the pension ordinance implements an increase to the employee contribution made by members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 693 (IAFF) to the annuity savings fund of the Employees Retirement System effective February 1, 2010. The amendment is being made pursuant to the ratified collective bargaining agreement approved by City Council on January 19, 2010. The amendment will affect only members of the IAFF, Local 693.
The City Charter contains provisions to allow summary publications of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length. The purpose of this resolution is to lessen the City’s cost resulting from the required publication of the revisions to the City Code.

Whereas, Section 7.4 of the City Charter authorizes the publication by summary of ordinances over 500 words in length;
RESOLVED, That Ordinance No. ORD-10-04 is published by the following summary:
Ordinance No. ORD-10-04 amends Section 1:572(b) of the City Code by adjusting the contributions of members who are represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 369. Effective February 1, 2010, the contribution rate for those members shall be increased from 5% to 6% of the compensation paid by the City. The amendment will affect only members of the IAFF, Local 693.
