Resolution Updating the City of Ann Arbor City Council Policy Agenda Committee

Whereas, The City Administrator and City Council established the Policy Agenda Committee (“Committee”) by Resolution R-16-427;

 

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor has dutifully administered the Committee for seven years, achieving important policy changes on behalf of residents; and

 

Whereas, The Committee has evolved and improved over time and the original enabling legislation has become outdated, necessitating this resolution;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council affirms the establishment of the City of Ann Arbor City Council Policy Agenda Committee;

 

RESOLVED, That the Committee members shall be appointed in accordance with Council Rules, and existing Committee members shall continue to serve uninterrupted by this resolution;

 

RESOLVED, That the purpose of the Committee is to identify items of legislative and administrative interest at the state and federal levels;

 

RESOLVED, That the Committee will identify items from Council Members, Boards and Commissions, staff, and work with the City Administrator and City Attorney to prioritize initiatives;

 

RESOLVED, That the Committee shall present a final policy agenda to the Council for approval not less than once every two years to coincide with the beginning of the new legislative sessions in Michigan and Washington DC; and

 

RESOLVED, That the Policy Agenda Committee shall be considered as a 'public body' as defined under Michigan's Open Meetings Act and shall conduct its business in accordance with the requirements of the Michigan Open Meetings Act.
