Title
Resolution to Approve a Cooperative Policing Agreement between the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution approving a Cooperative Policing Agreement between the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan.

Cooperative policing agreements between agencies ensure that procedures are in place to maintain law enforcement services in the event of an emergency or disaster that necessitate immediate police action to prevent the loss of life or property. Policing agreements also provide jurisdictional and procedural direction needed to coordinate services during both planned and unplanned events. The Cooperative Policing Agreement with the University of Michigan is an extension of the Washtenaw County Mutual Aid Agreement; which both AAPD and University of Michigan Department of Public Safety are participants.

This Agreement updates the existing Cooperative Policing Agreement between the City and the University of Michigan approved by City Council in November 1995 (Resolution R-536-11-95). Services provided for non-emergency (scheduled, anticipated or probable) events or emergencies of more than two hours duration are reimbursable at actual costs. Services provided for emergencies of less than two hours duration are at no cost.

The Agreement is recommended for approval
