PROCLAMATION
Honoring Coach Don Sleeman
Pioneer Boys Track, Field & Cross Country
December 7th, 2009
WHEREAS, Don Sleeman has been coaching Boys Cross Country, and Boys Track and Field at Pioneer High School since 1968; and
WHEREAS, The Coach is a United States Track and Field Registered Official and has served his sports on various Rules Committees, as Meet Director, Official for intercollegiate meets, and Official for both the 1996 Olympic Trials and Olympic Games; and
WHEREAS, Coach Sleeman has guided his student athletes to a combined twenty-nine Regional Championships and six State Championships; and
WHEREAS, Ninety-seven of Coach Don's charges have received All State
Honors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sleeman has been inducted into two Halls of Fame related to his sports; and
WHEREAS, Donald D. Sleeman has been awarded the honors of both, National Midwest Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2009, and National Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2009 by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
NOW THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby proclaim Congratulations to Coach Don Sleeman for 42 years of excellence in Coaching and for achieving the highest honors available to his profession in his service to the community.
