Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to allocate $33,095 in CDBG-Recovery Act funds (CDBG-R) to the Fair Housing Center of Southeastern Michigan. This allocation is consistent with City Council’s approved CDBG-R plan and budget (R-09-367) on September 8, 2009.

The Fair Housing Center provides fair housing education and enforcement services, including: taking fair housing complaints from Ann Arbor residents, completing tests and investigations, and conducting fair housing workshops. Most complaints are from people with disabilities, black households, and families with children, and 90% of the calls to the Fair Housing Center are from very-low income households.

The Office of Community Development recommends that City Council approve an allocation of $33,095 in CDBG-R funds as a grant to the Fair Housing Center. Fair Housing Services are an important component of the City’s Housing and Human Services program.
