Resolution to Approve an Agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Maintenance and Operation of a Continuously Operating Reference Station

Memorandum

The attached resolution is to approve an agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the Maintenance and Operation of a Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) antenna on the rooftop of the Larcom City Hall Building to service the Michigan Spatial Network in the City of Ann Arbor.

This antenna will boost the accuracy of GPS equipment used by surveyors and GIS mappers within the City limits, and thus will have a substantial benefit to the City of Ann Arbor.

Budget/Fiscal Impact:  The City has already purchased the CORS antenna ($19,539.00) through the Engineering Unit operating budget. Per the attached agreement, MDOT will be responsible for installation of the antenna as well as all maintenance, upgrades, and replacement of the antenna and its equipment. The City will be required to provide access to MDOT to perform said maintenance, power for the antenna, and Information Technology support as needed.
