Resolution Concerning Interim City Administrator Search Process

Body
Whereas, On August 16, City Council approved Resolution R-21-327 directing the City Attorney to take steps to initiate a search for an external interim candidate for the position of City Administrator with the assistance of the recruitment firm GovHR;
Whereas, The search was initiated and several candidates were identified by GovHR and the City Attorney that were considered by the Council Administration Committee; and
Whereas, On September 7, the Council Administration Committee voted to submit two candidates, Peter T. Burchard and Milton Dohoney Jr., to the entire City Council for consideration;
RESOLVED, That City Council shall evaluate the two candidates, Peter T. Burchard and Milton Dohoney Jr., for the position of Interim City Administrator using the following process:
September 14 - September 23
• Public interview of each candidate by City Council
• Interview of each candidate by the City’s Executive Team
• A process for staff participation and involvement
September 27
• Special Meeting for Council discussion and decision;
RESOLVED, That the evaluation process be coordinated by the Council Administration Committee, the Acting City Administrator, and the City Human Resources Director; and
RESOLVED, That City Council continues the appointment of Assistant City Administrator John Fournier to serve as Acting City Administrator until modification by a future resolution of Council.
