Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve a contract with Michigan Building and Restoration in the amount of $49,835.00.00, per bid #4042 to repair the vehicle bridge at Gallup Park, approve a construction contingency of $4,984.00, and establish a total construction project budget of $54,819.00.

The bridge, originally constructed in the 1970's, is in need of repairs to maintain the integrity of the structure and improve safety. Work will include improvements to the abutments to stabilize the bridge and prevent settling of the asphalt approach, replacement of the railing to meet current AASHTO standards, non-slip treatment on the pedestrian walk, and replacement of the structural cross bracing.

Requests for bids were advertised on the City's website and on the MITN site. Five companies submitted bids for the project as follows:

Faust Corporation - $184,630.00
Construction Solutions - $162,691.00
Baseline Constructors - $159,320.00
AnM Business Group LLC - $ 99,449.74
Michigan Building and Restoration* - $ 49,835.00

*Lowest responsible bidder.

Michigan Building and Restoration received Human Rights Approval on August 7, 2009 and complies with the living and prevailing wage ordinance.

Funding for the project is included in the FY 2010 Park Maintenance and Capital Improvements Millage budget.
