Memorandum

The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of Ordinance No. 20-35, which was approved by City Council on January 19, 2021.  The City Charter allows summary publication of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length.  Approval of this resolution will reduce the cost of publishing due to the size of the ordinance.

RESOLVED, That the publication of Ordinance 20-35 shall be made by the following summary:

Ordinance No. 20-35 amends Sections 5.19.1, 5.19.2, and 5.37.2.6, Chapter 55 (Unified Development Code) of Title V of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor, to require new Electric Vehicle (EV) Parking Spaces with EV infrastructure.  The amendments will require new EV charging infrastructure to be included in parking areas for projects that require a Site Plan for City Council review.  Related changes include, adding the required number of new EV spaces by land use type to the Off-street Parking Table, indicating the specific type of EV infrastructure required, and adding new EV parking terms to the Definitions section of the UDC.   

The effective date of the Ordinance is 10 days after publication.

The complete text of this ordinance is available for inspection at the City Clerk's office on the 2nd floor of the Guy C. Larcom Municipal Building, 301 E. Huron St., Ann Arbor.
